Solar + Storage - Deployment Case Study
A commercial warehouse with a 200 kWp solar array was exporting 55% of generation at low feed-in tariff rates while importing expensive grid power in the evening.
A 400 kWh BESS was added to capture daytime solar surplus and discharge during evening peak consumption periods.
- Self-consumption increased from 45% to 91%. Annual electricity savings increased by $54,000. Payback on the BESS addition achieved in 4.2 years.

Plan your solar plus storage system
Start with solar generation and site demand measured across the same periods. Then identify surplus production, evening loads and export limits. Solar plus storage sizing should account for conversion losses, usable battery capacity and any energy reserved for backup. Existing inverter and connection details also influence the integration approach.
Compare BX commercial battery systems or discuss your site requirements. For background, see the U.S. Department of Energy’s solar energy and storage basics.
